As a photographer in Jackson Hole, I’ve had the opportunity to capture the rugged beauty of the Teton Range and the vibrant energy of the people who come here. I have been lucky to be a part of luxury weddings, intimate elopements, and families wanting to remember their vacations to the beautiful Grand Teton National Parl.
This year, I co-hosted the Nourished Gathering with BreAnne Weston in Jackson Hole, a retreat designed to nurture both the craft and the soul. After two decades of honing my craft and learning how to have a successful business. I’ve understood the importance of creativity, wandering, and continuous learning. I love to share what I have learned and what has helped me be successful.
Why Jackson Hole?
Jackson Hole offers an unparalleled backdrop for any photographer. Nestled in the heart of Grand Teton National Park, the region provides dramatic mountain ranges, vast plains, and serene wildlife—all within one stunning landscape. There’s something truly magical about shooting here, whether photographing a family session or capturing an intimate wedding surrounded by towering peaks. This magic inspired us to create a retreat where photographers can immerse themselves in nature, recharge their creativity, and gain invaluable business insights.
A Retreat Focused on Growth and Connection
The Nourished Gathering was designed with intention. It wasn’t just another workshop. It was a place where photographers could step away from the day-to-day grind and focus on what truly matters—nurturing their craft and their personal well-being. Alongside the photography sessions in breathtaking locations, we dove into creativity and explored nature with a serene canoe ride on Jackson Lake.
My co-host, BreAnne Weston, and I are passionate about guiding others to success. Throughout our careers, we’ve learned that success doesn’t come from chasing numbers or working ourselves to the bone. Instead, it comes from finding balance, connecting with clients authentically, and understanding the value of our art. At the retreat, we opened up and shared what has worked and the struggles we have experienced in building a succesful photography business..
What Attendees Took Away
Participants left the Nourished Gathering feeling not just rejuvenated but inspired and empowered. Attendees were able to participate in three different sessions: a sweet couple, a beautiful family, and, in conclusion, BreAnne working her magic documenting a memento session. BreAnne is such a talented photographer; she can tell any family story while teaching other photographers how to succeed in their photo sessions in any situation.
But perhaps the most powerful takeaway was the sense of renewal. In the fast-paced world of photography and social media, it’s easy to lose sight of why we started in the first place. The retreat helped everyone reconnect with their passion and understand how to apply that enthusiasm to their careers. Each took home a unique charm necklace from Class Charming. Created an heirloom photo album to store their memories. Enjoyed delicious made-from-scratch meals inspired by the Wild West. Slept in the great outdoors, for some this was their first camping experience, cuddled up with a beautiful Saranoni blanket gifted to each attendee.
Looking Forward to the Future
This retreat was just the beginning. We are already planning future gatherings to expand beyond Jackson Hole and into other stunning National Parks. Our mission is simple: to help photographers grow in their craft and overall well-being, creating a path to long-term success in the industry.
After 20 years in this business, I can confidently say that photography is more than just taking pictures. It’s about connection—whether that’s with the people in front of your lens, the environment around you, or the community of photographers who share your passion. It’s about creating something that resonates deeply, and it’s about continuing to grow as both an artist and a business owner.
If you’re looking to take your photography business to the next level and find a supportive community of like-minded individuals, I hope you’ll join us at the next Nourished Gathering. We can’t wait to help you discover what’s possible when you truly nourish your creative spirit.
