I had so much fun working with this family; they were so kind and generous! They were all at their second home in Park City at the Promontory Club for the holidays, and it was a perfect time to get an updated photo. We lucked out with fresh snow on Christmas, so everything looked so beautiful! As a photographer, I love how their outfits came together, and the neutral colors are perfect for the winter scene. And I am obsessed with the mom’s coat; it looked so good for the snowy day in the mountains. Even though all of the kids are adults, they still put up with me, making them laugh and smile at each other, those are always some of my favorite images!
At the Promontory Club, they have the most beautiful lake and boathouse in the community; it is my new favorite place to take photos in Park City! It looks like it is straight out of a magazine or a movie, it was so picturesque! Being a Promontory Club Family Photographer is seriously a dream!
Tips for Winter Photoshoots
Some people are afraid of the snow for family photos; if you dress correctly and embrace the cold, they will be some of your favorite photos! Here are a few tips to make it through a snowy, winter photoshoot:
Have outfits that look good with or without your coats. A lot of times, we will start without coats on and then add them back in as it gets too cold. If you have the right layers, it will add to the shoot and give you more variety.
Wear good shoes, and this will make all of the difference. If you can keep your feet dry with a good pair of boots, you will stay warm for a lot longer. There are so many cute options for boots, and they look so good in photos! I love my Sorel and Timberland Boots.
If you want to wear gloves in the photos, make sure they aren’t too flashy or bright. You can also wear one glove on the hand in the back and keep yourself half warm! 🙂
A lot of people travel to Park City from warmer places and haven’t been accustomed to the cold. My best tip for dealing with the cold is your adjusting your mindset. Don’t think about how cold it is, focus on how much you love your family instead.
I am super easy going when it comes to doing photo sessions if you need to warm up, please let me know! I don’t ever want to make you too uncomfortable, and there is always time to warm up in the car or your home for a bit.
Some people take the winter off because they don’t like working in the snow, I love it and can’t get enough of all of the snowy photo sessions!
